READ:
Visa has informed us that a fraud ring in Japan has been
submitting fraudulent requests for authorization on Visa®
Debit card transactions. In some cases, the scammers have
sent multiple requests for authorization within a 60-second
timeframe. This activity has resulted in numerous fraudulent
charges to SCCU members’ accounts.
SCCU has decided to immediately take the following action
to protect members:
- We have issued a “country block” for Japan.
The block is for Visa Debit Cards only,
not credit cards, and is effective until further notice.
It is possible that transactions being processed on a U.S.
military base may not be blocked if the base uses U.S. clearing.
This means that military members may or may not be negatively
affected by the block.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your patience
as we work to resolve this situation.
If you suspect that any fraudulent activity has been conducted
on your card account, please call the Member Service Center,
and an SCCU representative will assist you. Calling hours
are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 6 pm, and Saturday,
9 am – 1 pm.

Using caution with your private information is the best way
you can help prevent being victimized. Visit our Fraud
Section page for additional tips to help protect yourself
against identity theft.
