{March10, 2008} SCCU is a proud sponsor of three local high school Surf Club Teams: Melbourne Surf Team, Satellite Surf Team and the Cocoa Beach Surf Team. Supporting schools and education has always been an important part of our Community efforts and the Surf Club Teams are simply another way to continue that important work. In 2008 SCCU designed, manufactured and donated 2 sets of Contest Rash Guards to each school. These are a necessary part of the Teams’ many contest events and the groups were very excited. “Each contest is set up into heats and each heat has up to 6 competitors.” said Melbourne High Surf Team’s Mrs. Tamara Williamson. “By having 2 sets of these jerseys we can have one heat in the water and one on the beach ready to go. It makes the contest flow smoothly and we appreciate the support of SCCU.” she added. Along with the donations, students also received information from the Surfrider Foundation’s Sebastian Inlet Chapter about opportunities to help with beach clean-ups and clean water events while earning their community service hours.
