Dana DeSantis

Dana DeSantis teaches Mathematics to 6th graders at Manatee Elementary School in Viera and she is another happy recipient of donations made to her from the Education Donation Program. Dana says, “There are so many needs in the classroom that aren’t taken care of other than by my own personal income.” “The school provides me with $125 for my classroom needs and Brevard County gives me $102,” explains DeSantis. “While the money is very helpful, it doesn’t stretch nearly far enough. That’s why I’ve been so happy to have the support of the Education Donation program. It provides me with a direct source of funds to help with everyday classroom needs like tape, paper, pens, highlighters, stickers, paint, and folders.”

DeSantis says that she likes to reward her students from time to time for excellent performance. “They can earn prizes for educational games or a special snack and I use the money from the Education Donation disbursements that I receive for these special items,” she says. DeSantis wishes more teachers were enrolled in the program. “The funds can add up to a significant contribution – just look at me…I’ve collected more than $100! Every little bit helps,” concludes Dana.
