Greg
Griffin, 8th grade U.S. History Teacher at John F. Kennedy
Middle School is one of many Brevard County Teachers
benefiting from the Education Donation Program. Greg
says, “The Education Donation Program really works
to help teachers. I give the Education Donation Program
an A+. What's great is that the parents who are donating
know that the funds come directly to me to spend in
their child's class. In fact, I’ve already received
more than $50 this year!”
A long time SCCU member, Griffin
says, “I really appreciate that SCCU members have
selected me to be the recipient of a portion of their
SCCU credit card rebates. I receive cash directly from
the program and the money is well spent on needed educational
material like books, posters, and DVDs. I also purchase
supplies with the funds like reinforcement tabs, erasers,
pencils and pens.” Griffin says that he typically
spends $500 per year of his personal income on needed
supplies for his classroom, which is about average for
Florida teachers, according to Sara Stern, Public Information
Officer for the Brevard County Schools. “Many
more teachers could be benefiting from this program
simply by their friends and students’ parents
enrolling them in the program,” Griffin adds.
