Space Coast Credit Union
is prepared with processes and procedures designed to help
ensure that any disruptions to our operations,
branch facilities and, most important, our members will be
minimized. These proactive measures are designed to ensure
that we can resume our normal operations as quickly and efficiently
as possible, in order to deliver services with minimal interruption
or inconvenience.
If a storm or other occurrence interrupts service:
-
We will provide frequent updates on
SCCU.com, and via recorded phone messages and the news
media about branch closings and re-openings, and provide
ongoing information about branch accessibility in those
areas that are not severely affected.
-
We work closely with our money center
to ensure that there is sufficient cash on hand to meet
member needs. In the rare instances the money center is
unable to deliver the anticipated currency, SCCU may impose
a temporary limit on the amount of cash you may withdraw
in the branches.
-
Our branch ATMs, as well as stand-alone
ATMs, will remain operable and available for member cash
withdrawals and deposits, as long as there is no damage
or loss of power. But, plan ahead -- at least a couple
of days -- to withdraw needed funds out of the ATM; don't
wait until the day you're trying to evacuate.
Regardless of damage to any
of our facilities or interruptions of service, be assured
that your SCCU account information is always safe. For security
reasons, we have back-up and data storage systems to ensure
your account information is protected. Additionally, we have
pre-arrangements with our key systems providers to resume
operations from outside of Florida if conditions warrant.
Are You Ready?
In addition to physical preparations
such as developing an evacuation plan and having essential
items like clothing, food, water, medical and emergency supplies
on hand, it's important that you also prepare financially.
Here are some steps you should take now.
-
Have enough
cash available. Take out a sufficient amount
of funds from your SCCU account that you think you will
need for travel or to cover expenses for an extended period
of time. Small denominations are easier to use for some
purchases. Also consider keeping Traveler's Checks®
or a roll of quarters for smaller purchases.
-
Direct Deposit.
If your paychecks or Social Security checks are not directly
deposited into SCCU account, we recommend that you act
now to set up this service. If you have these payments
directly deposited, you will have access to you funds
regardless of any damage to our facilities or to your
employer's, or even if you have to evacuate the area.
All you will need is an ATM card, your Visa® Debit
card, or your SCCU checks to have immediate access to
your cash, no matter where you may be while a storm keeps
you from home. Sign
up for Direct Deposit today.
-
Be aware
of financial scams and fraud. A crisis brings
out the good and bad in people. Unscrupulous individuals
tend to prey on people during their time of need. Do not
give out your account information, credit card number
or Social Security number to anyone except representatives
of known and trusted financial institutions. And always
ask for identification as proof.
