Health Benefits
We offer a choice of health coverage through CIGNA including an HMO, PPO or a High Deductible PPO Health Plan (HDHP)
with a Health Savings Account option. SCCU pays a large part of the cost for this coverage.
Two CIGNA Dental plans are also available – Preventive Dental or Comprehensive Dental. SCCU pays the
full cost of the Preventive Dental coverage for you and your family members. SCCU pays a large part of
the cost for the Comprehensive Dental coverage. We offer vision coverage through Eye Med Vision Care. Employees pay the full cost of the vision coverage.
Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Accounts
An FSA (flexible Spending Account) allows for pre-tax dollars to be set
aside for health care and dependent care expenses. Spending account contributions are
deducted from pay before taxes are deducted. The Health Care account can
be used to pay for medical expenses (such as co-pays, prescriptions, services not paid for
by insurance, etc.). The Dependent Care account is for employees who need to provide day
care for a dependent child or adult in order to be able to work. These accounts are not
portable. Any balances remaining as of March 15 of the following year will be forfeited.
A HSA (Health Savings Account), is a
savings account specifically set-up for medical expenses – you must
participate in the High Deductible Health Plan in order to qualify for
the Health Savings Account. This account can receive contributions
through payroll deduction, or by depositing monies directly into the
account. SCCU will also match a portion of your contribution to your HSA
account. This account is portable and belongs to the employee. Balances
will ‘roll over’ from year to year and are subject to yearly ‘maximums’ for
contributions. These amounts change from year to year. These accounts will also earn interest.
Short and Long Term Disability
Full time employees are eligible for Short Term and Long Term Disability
coverage. Generally, after 15 days of a qualifying disability, an employee
will receive income equal to 60% of his/her monthly base salary and is eligible
to receive this benefit for 90 days. After this time, employees may qualify for
long term disability equal to 60% of his/her monthly base salary combined with
other sources of disability income, such as Social Security until age 65.
Full time employees also have the option to purchase additional Disability Insurance to receive
an additional 10% of their monthly base salary, for a total of 70% of income protection, in the
event of a long-term disability. Both Short Term and Long Term Disability are subject to
pre-existing condition limitations.
Life Insurance
SCCU provides term life insurance to full time and
part time employees at no cost. Full time employees
receive coverage in the amount of 2 times their annual salary. Part time employees receive a flat $20,000 in life coverage. Full time employees may purchase additional optional life
insurance for themselves, their spouse and their children at
very reasonable rates and subject to specific underwriting requirements.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
A confidential resource for SCCU employees and their immediate family,
our EAP provides counseling, information and referral services 24 hours a day/7
days a week, with up to three free visits per person per year. SCCU’s health
plans also provide mental health and substance abuse treatment. Please review the specific medical plan information for more details.
Paid Time Off

accrue and earn the following paid time off over a 12-month
period (part time employees accrue at a prorated schedule):
- 10 vacation days
- 10 paid holidays
- 10 sick days

401(K) Savings Plan
This pre-tax savings plan can supplement your future social
security and retirement benefits. Full AND part-time employees
are eligible to enroll following one hour of service in
our generous plan, which allows individuals to contribute
up to 95% of gross earnings. SCCU leads the industry in
matching 100% of the first 5% of employee contributions
following one year of employment. |
