Text Message Scam
NOTICE: It has been brought to our attention that a fraudulent TEXT MESSAGE is being circulated via cell phone. In this "smishing" scam, members receive a text message via cell phone instructing members to call a non-SCCU phone number. Unsuspecting members who dial the number provided in the text message are told that their debit/credit card has been placed into "limited" status and are then asked to provide their debit card number, expiration date and PIN to verify their information.
THIS TEXT MESSAGE DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM SCCU. DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER IN THE TEXT MESSAGE.
Space Coast Credit Union will never contact you in regards to your account status in this manner.
If you receive such a text message, please contact your cell phone service provider immediately to alert them of the fraud attempt, and discuss recommendations for handling scam text messages.
The message may appear similar to the examples below:
THE CREDIT UNION CENTER ALERT: Your CARD XXXXX has been DEACTIVATED. Please call 954-999-1231
This is an important message from your financial institution regarding your account.
Please call us immediately at 1-866-719-3878
Your credit union debit card has a pending alert. Please call 1866-202-9457 and follow
the instructions to resolve the alert.

If you ever have a question concerning your account or credit/debit card, contact SCCU directly.
Please remember that Space Coast Credit Union, the NCUA, CUNA, CUNA Mutual, or any other organization pertaining to credit unions will never contact you via email, text message, or telephone asking for personal account information such as complete social security numbers, account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, dates of birth, etc. If you receive an email, text message, or phone call requesting that you update your personal and/or financial information, please send the information to reportfraud@sccu.com.
