As the Chief Financial Officer for your credit union, I wanted to take some time this month to talk about our focus, and the results we've generated for you, our member-owners, as a result of that focus.
Politically-speaking there is a lot of attention right now on doing what is right for consumers. Credit Unions, with our cooperative form of ownership, have demonstrated these values for the past century. SCCU employees have been working hard to provide honest, trustworthy service during times when you don't know who to trust. Our democratically-elected Board of Directors, made up exclusively of your fellow members who volunteer their services, have continued to ensure that the credit union is heading in the right direction to benefit the membership as a whole.
This focus has allowed SCCU to perform well despite the economic turmoil that SCCU and other financial institutions have had to deal with since 2008. There is still much uncertainty about the future of the American and local economies, but your credit union is weathering the storm well.
