True, It depends. Yes, some social networking sites DO sell information (your name, phone number, address and even photos) about you to marketers, credit companies, etc.

True. Public schools are generally limited to authority over students' online expression only during class time or when the conduct causes, or is likely to cause, a substantial disruption.

3.  Schools are required by law to filter Internet access.
True, False, It depends. If your school receives federal money for its technology budget, it must filter student Internet access. This requirement is the result of the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), which was passed by Congress in December 2000. Schools that do not receive federal money may decide for themselves whether or not to use filters.

4.  Private schools do not regulate how students spend time online.
False, It depends. While public schools generally may not regulate how students spend time outside of class, private schools have the right to discipline students for violating school policy on school grounds.

False. No place on the Web is 100 percent safe -- MySpace included. To limit your vulnerability online, don't share passwords, social security or bank numbers, and use a regularly updated firewall or anti-virus program.

True, It depends. Posting pictures, names and addresses, schools you've attended or phone numbers can get you into trouble. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says it's received at least 288 MySpace-related complaints of inappropriate Internet activity-- stats that Internet safety experts agree show teens aren't being careful enough online.

False, It depends. Police have used photos from social networking sites to link suspects to crimes, and some colleges have expelled teenagers for violating codes of conduct evidenced in online photos and blogs.

True. MySpace has signed on an estimated 92.6 million users.

True. Known only as "Tom" in the message boards, Tom Anderson co-founded the site with MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe in 2003.
