Fighting Fraud

With Space Coast Credit Union

Being your financial watchdog is about always protecting your financial interests. That includes watching out for any fraudulent activity with your account.

Quick Tips to Help Fight Fraud

  Personal Information Requests by SCCU

SCCU will never solicit personal or account information through phone, text, email, or other means that a member did not first initiate.

✓  Keep Your Contact Information with Us Up-to-Date

Make sure we have your most up-to-date contact information, including a mobile number, so we can contact you immediately regarding suspicious transaction activity and ensure important credit union correspondence won’t end up in the wrong hands. You can update your information through Online Banking under Settings.

  Monitor Your Accounts

Enroll in free SCCU services like Online and Mobile Banking, alerts, and e-Statements, to help us detect and alert you to any issues.

✓  Use Strong Passwords and Change Them Frequently

Remember to never share your passwords with anyone, and change your passwords regularly, especially for accounts containing sensitive data such as your financial accounts.

Avoid using words that can be spelled out completely or found in a standard dictionary. Instead, create an original acronym that starts with the first letter of a common phrase like “BTTDB” for “Back to the Drawing Board”.

Double-down on the complexity of your passwords by using a mixture of capital letters, numbers, and special characters.

  Set Up Alerts

Setting up alerts is a great way to keep track of your money and be aware of any suspicious transactions as they are happening. Through SCCU’s Online Banking, you can set up balance alerts, transaction alerts, and more!
